Today is Friday.
The weekend has finally arrived; payday;
a day to spend your paycheck on bills,
groceries and etc.
Though the weekend has arrived filled with plans and events, we must remember to keep our focus on God (including during these plans and events; ask yourself, is it appropriate to take Jesus into or through?)
Have you ever gone to your mailbox full of hope within your heart to receive a package or a letter from friends or family or loved ones?
Have you ever opened that mailbox to see either an empty mailbox or filled with bills or advertisements but, nothing of what you were hoping for daily?
It’s discouraging and disappointing, isn't it?
How do we overcome these discouraging & adversity feelings that we face every time that we open the mailbox to emptiness or to those other envelopes that lead to dread or the trash (bills, ads &, etc.)? It can become very hard to overcome these disappointments & the fear of the adversity that comes from those letters due to the bills being high or past due or disconnect notice due to nonpayment. However, keep faith and hope in the Lord during this adversity & for the right time (His time) for a letter from a special friend or family member to arrive within that empty mailbox of yours. Pray for God to provide for the adversity your face today.
Day after day, I have walked out to my mailbox full of hope-fullness to receive a letter or two from a dear close friend, that means a lot to me. I wait as well for my phone to ring from them. Nothing as of yet has shown up in my mailbox. When I walk inside the mailbox with a heart full of discouragement, thoughts begin to run through my mind, “Did something happen to them?”,” Did I write too much or too little or did they receive my letters?”, " Did I say something to cause them to not write me?” The more I kept pondering about it (whether it be within these letters) the more down and disappointed and discouraged I began to feel as the adversity begins to build around me.
I knew that I needed to find something else to get my mind off of that disappointment within my days of not receiving anything so, I would pray for my friend’s safety and other things within my heart that needed to be addressed to the Lord for my friend. I would reread my Daily Devotionals again, sing hymns of praise and just lift my burdens that weigh my heart down before the Lord.
Here are ways we all can overcome our adversities with :
1.) When you feel adversity; Please lift up your voice to the Lord in prayer to Him of how you feel. Ask the Lord to change your heart, and mind and to watch over those you are to receive a letter/ call or text from, for the Lord to keep them safe, healthy &, etc.
2.) When you feel adversity; Please sing a favorite hymn with your voice up to the Lord. If you feel like crying as you sing…let your tears flow my friends, for God is there hearing you and He is there to comfort you through it. Lift up your voice in song.
3.) When you feel adversity; Please read God’s Holy Words and meditate on His words of what He is trying to speak to your heart and mind of encouragement. Allow God to encourage you through this time of discouragement. Allow the Holy Spirit to indwell within your heart. Smile my friends because, God knows, hears, and sees all that is taking place. There are answers within His Word, so, get those pages open and read them and let them soak into your mind.
4.) When you feel adversity; Pray for God to help you have a connection here within their heart so, you can have inner peace when you feel concerned about them while you are feeling this disappointment and discouragement as well.
5.) When you feel adversity; Please send them a Thinking of You card with no letter inside so, they know that you are thinking of them as you continue to wait for their reply. (It also shows them that they are missed, thought of, prayed for, cared for, and loved and that we desire to hear from them soon and we will continue to wait patiently for their reply.)
6.) When you feel adversity; Please if all these above aren't helping you in some way to lift your spirits (which 1 through 4 should because, God is our comforter in all areas of our lives including this area) find something else to do to get your mind off of it; go for a jog or walk, play with friends or your pet, read a book, watch a movie, go shopping with friends, start a new hobby.
Today, my friends keep these 6 things in mind, within your heart daily, so, when you feel those adversities attacking within or around you. You will begin to feel the courage of Jesus surrounding you to allow you to have that inner peace of assurance that your friends, family, or love one whom you are yearning to hear from is safe within God’s hands for ALL things are in His control & His time, NOT ours.
Until the next blog…
May God bless your weekend with many wonderful
blessings with family & friends
& I pray you will be encouraged daily!
Have a great weekend!
